Coun. Blackwell typifies rot in Langford
letter to the editor

Re: “Councillor caught on YouTube ‘exercising’ middle finger at protesters,” March 6.
Langford Coun. Denise Blackwell has been caught on tape giving the finger to citizens at a council meeting.
Anyone else behaving this way would have been summarily arrested by city council’s RCMP friends, thrown out and ridiculed by the media.

Perhaps this news story should read: “Quigg group, Bear Mountain settle legal differences SAYS LEN BARRIE”. I think it’s interesting that we always hear this from Len Barrie’s perspective. As a result we know little about how upset with the Bear Mountain Master Partnership that Quigg was (or even why, except for what was mentioned in their legal filings and we can’t be certain that’s a complete list). At this point we know nothing about what was offered to Quigg to make them happy again. The increase in density is interesting, especially since media reports haven’t indicated that Langford Council was part of the decision to increase density by another 200 units. Aren’t these decisions usually made by our city councillors, not the developers? That seems like something worth looking into.

Bear Mountain and the Quigg Development group have settled their legal disagreement.
Quigg, which plans a multi-tower $1.4-billion condominium project at Bear Mountain, late last month launched a lawsuit alleging the company had been misled about the pace of development at the resort, the placement of a reservoir and the sale price of some of the units.
