Green light flashed for interchange

Langford mayor slams finance authority; protesters pack council chambers

Langford Mayor Stew Young launched into a blistering attack on the Municipal Finance Authority yesterday, saying he was appalled the lending institution singled his municipality out for extra borrowing fees.

Young was speaking to a packed chamber in a process that saw councillors authorize reduced borrowing for an interchange under construction near Spencer Road. Those against the entire project were out in force, advised to hum when they did not agree with anything, but that didn’t happen. Read the rest of this entry »
