Property tax notices are going out to Langford residents, for the property taxes due July 2nd. There are some good inserts placed into the envelopes (a personal favourite is the ad for the Emergency Social Services (ESS) meeting this coming Monday, June 9th, 7 PM, at Fire Hall #1).
I was surprised and disappointed to see a very political document in there, a letter from our mayor. It doesn’t seem the appropriate place for me, nor is printing 10,000 or so of these full colour documents on the taxpayers dime seem correct (it reminds me of roundly-criticised mailouts from provincial and federal governments in the past who’ve used taxpayer dollars to make politicised mailouts for reigning governments).
