Reminders

Posted by Steven Hurdle on August 4, 2008

A reminder that fire restrictions are still in place, despite the recent spate of moderate precipitation. The 14-day weather forecast is looking quite dry as of the time of this article’s posting, and the fire department has thus far not elected to rescind the ban.

Also, a reminder that while there’s normally a Langford Council meeting on the first Monday of every month, that today is an exception due to the statutory holiday.

I guess nobody is enforcing the fire ban in Goldstream park. The air was FULL of wood smoke out here again last night. Tried to send an e-mail to the Langford Fire department this morning via their website, but their e-mail contact address is invalid. Do I have to phone 9-1-1? It is obvious that there is nobody watching the park and nobody at the firehall next to the entrance to the park. Whatever happened to the park wardens? Out chasing down stray picanic baskets stolen by Yogi Bear? If there is a fire up there, who can I blame when my place goes up in flames? I’m thinking that my trailer court could have one big weenie roast and nobody would come along to stop us. What good is a fire ban if there is no enforcement?
