Langford praised on what is has become. Questions raised about where is it going? Jody Paterson, TC

Posted by Cheryl McLachlan on October 17, 2008

I was alerted to a a post on Times-Colonist writer Jody Paterson’s blog about an article she wrote for the Times-Colonist back in Sept. 12, 2008 on Langford’s transformation from its past and what will be its vision for the future. It seemed a timely article to link to with the municipal election underway.

Langford received congratulations, “councillors take a bow,” for the transformation of Langford from dogpatch to what it is today, “an attractive well-serviced town.” Langford was given high praise for its affordable housing program, and questions were raised about what is the next step, how will Langford learn from the mistakes of other growing cities, and how does Langford deal with building community in a growing city with growing big city problems.

Economic slowdown stops multiple developments in Langford

Posted by Cheryl McLachlan on October 16, 2008

On the heels of Westhills sending some staff to find new jobs as it slows down development, the breaking news is that the Quigg Towers on Bear Mt. have suspended all work and sales, and are refunding people that already purchased. A possible restart date is at least six months and possibly as long as two years away.
