South Skirt Mountain Public Hearing Monday Night
Posted by Steven Hurdle on February 20, 2009
The proposed development on the south face of Skirt Mountain is to be discussed Monday night in Council Chambers at Langford City Hall. This will be the final time, prior to its fate being decided, that it will be discussed in public, or with the public. Under provincial regulations, once the public hearing occurs Langford Council members will no longer be allowed to discuss the development with the developer or with members of the public, until such time as they have approved or voted against Bylaw 1209 which seeks to rezone the area for the project. People with questions and thoughts on the development will still be able to approach City Hall staff, however.
The agenda is up on the City of Langford’s website and it is an impressive 119 pages, a long agenda for a meeting that has only a single bylaw on the docket. I have not yet had the opportunity to review the entire document as it has only been available for a few hours, but I know there is a lot of interest in this development within our community and I wanted to draw people’s attention to it immediately. As always, please post your observations, questions, and other comments below.

I believe that council has already made the decision to approve the re-zoning. They do not have a choice. With most development projects of any size now halted, the city desperately needs to funds to pay for the Spencer Road Interchange and replace its dwindling revenues.
