Council meeting Monday night

After a week-long absence to attend the Union of BC Municipalities meeting, Langford Council returns to Council Chambers Monday night. There’s a public hearing for a proposal for Foshoda Place, a development variance permit for Canadian Tire, and more. Click the link above to read the whole agenda.

West Shore Park proposal is in the running for big bucks and needs your votes to win!

A West Shore Parks and Recreation Society and Colwood Rotary proposal for an inclusive Picnic Playground is in the running in a national contest, having made it into the final top 5 competition, beating out hundreds of entries from across Canada. Fire at Savory school

Savory Elementary has been closed today due to fire. School is out reportedly out for kids for next two days, as there is a lot of damage.

Hidden agendas

Don’t blink – $3 million more for the ‘Bridge to Nowhere’

Don’t blink – you might miss another bylaw authorizing the City of Langford to borrow $3 million more for the ‘Bridge to Nowhere.’ Bylaw 1369, with no public hearing, only the staff report to Council, and the first time the general public could be aware of the bylaw, is going through First, Second and Third readings all at the same council meeting, this Tuesday. Smart Meters, land swaps, and patio encroachment agreements

Tomorrow’s Langford Council Meeting agenda is available. It’s loaded with public hearings (four in total), development variance permits (8 in total), correspondence from Tammy and Robert Jeske over their concerns about BC Hydro’s Smart Meter programme, and several other interesting proposals (a road closure paired with a land exchange, a “Patio Encroachment Agreement”, and more).
